Oil Dome 'Black Leaf'

This Oil Dome by Black Leaf is essential for smoking concentrates, oil or dabs (“dabbing”) with a bong or dab rig. But what exactly is an oil dome or dabbing dome, and how does it work? Read it here!

The purpose of an oil dome is to make sure that the costly oil vapour that is released when “dabbing” cannabis concentrates does not just go up in smoke. An oil dome is always used in combination with an oil nail or dab nail. You place the nail on the attachment of the bong or dab rig over which you normally place the bowl, and shove the dome right over it on the attachment or “grinding”. The nail is heated, and with a so-called dab tool you “dab” the concentrate, or dabs, on the hot nail. The oil evaporates, and the dome keeps most of the vapour in place, so you can inhale it through the bong or dab rig. To make sure that no vapour gets lost at all, you can use a carb cap dabber.

The oil dome is made of very high quality borosilicate glass. This makes the oil dome heat-proof and scratch-proof, so there’s no need to worry about any cracks or breaking the dome when heating the nail. You should never heat the dome directly (there is no need for it anyway), whereas it only serves as a sort of shell or casing for the nail.

It is advisable to order a dabber / dab tool with the dome. This is a tool for picking up the concentrate and “dabbing” it on the hot nail, without burning your fingers and injuring yourself. A dabber can be made of many different materials, but is often made of metal or glass. A glass carb cap dabber is a dab tool with a “carb cap” that you can hold above the nail and dome, so that there is no way for the smoke or vapour to escape. This allows you to get the most out of your already much too expensive cannabis extracts.
